#BEDM Day 14: Fashion

It's been awhile since I did an outfit post on this blog but I do miss them so check out what I'm wearing to work today and then dinner with Topher.

IMG_2229
Vest: Gap (on sale!), Necklace & shoes: Primark, Jeans: Outlet store in Florida for $17!

I only got this Gap vest a week or two ago but haven't had a chance to wear it yet due to all the rubbish weather but now that it looks nice again I'm going to risk it! I love the bright colours and the aztec print. A great addition to the colourful side of my wardrobe.

IMG_2226

I tend to stay pretty casual in the office and I love how comfy the jeans are. They're at that awesome fits just right stage where they're not tight like new jeans usually are and not falling down either. I didn't have to wrestle when I bought them so they're being constantly worn at the moment.

IMG_2228

When it hasn't been raining these shoes have been constantly on my feet. For Primark flats, I have to say that they are holding up pretty well against the heavy wearing. Though we'll see by the end of the summer!

Luna seems to be interested by my outfit choice...

Meadowhall trip

IMG_1291

Last weekend I took the train to Meadowhall to meet with my family. Due to it being a Sunday, train times weren't regular so I ended up waiting an hour in Starbucks for them to arrive. No bother for me. I enjoyed a hot chocolate and a pastry while reading blogs on my iPad. Prepared. I forgot how nice it is to just sit and read in a coffee shop. I'm usually rushing about so it's a rare occurrence for me.

IMG_1195
When it came to the time when the shops started opening, I decided to have a wander while I waited. First stop, Dorothy Perkins. Destination, the sale section. I got quite lucky considering how small the section is (the sale is pretty much over). I managed to find a pair of purple jeggings in a size 12 for just a tenner. They were a petite but fit my short legs just fine. And even better, when I got to the till I remembered that I had about £16 left on a gift card from my birthday last year. Score!

Finally my family arrived and it was off to look around some more shops. We were stuck in Holister for awhile thanks to my brother and my auntie but I kept myself amused taking snaps for instagram with my new Paperchase postcards. Though it's still pretty dark in there I have to admire their floor. Pretty! The main reason for my Paperchase visit was to pick up a couple of things to top off the parcel for my #springtimesurpriseproject partner. Post to come later on that. But of course it being me, I had to get a few postcards myself. Only 60p each though so not enough to break the bank.

IMG_1199
Next stop was lunch. TGI Fridays as chosen by my cousin. The less said about this place the better. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd be disappointed by a quesadilla. On the bright side, I really liked the decor of the place.

IMG_1205

IMG_1206

IMG_1210
After that it was followed by more wandering around the centre. It's been such a long time since I last visited which is funny since I practically used to live here as a teen. A couple of weekends a month, my mum and I would drive the hour journey over to shop, have some lunch then go and visit my grandparents. I was a bit of a lonely teen so I used to enjoy these visits immensely. How times have changed.

IMG_1202

Before heading to Primark, we stopped in Topshop and Debenhams. The latter where I bought a dress reduced to £10 in the sale and the former where I was surprised at how bored I was. What has happened to the clothes in Topshop? I've never seen so much black, white and beige in my life. Where's the colour? I hope it's just this store - Topshop is the majority of the time too expensive for me but I usually love walking around for inspiration.

When it came to Primark, I really reigned myself in and just got things that I needed and things that were a complete bargain like the leather jacket below. Only £10! That'll be ideal for when Spring finally makes an appearance.

IMG_1200

The toiletries bag that I've had for around 10 years finally died on our Florida trip so it was time to pick up a new one. I love the nautical style of this and it's a decent size to fit all my bits.

IMG_1300

For those who love Disney and Harry Potter, I would get yourself down to Primark soon as there is a massive choice at the moment for t-shirts. I couldn't help myself when I found this Hufflepuff t-shirt for £6. This type of thing would set you back double or triple the price in the Wizarding World in Florida. This will be saved for October when we visit next.

And of course in true February on the high street style, all the sandals and summer clothes are beginning to make an appearance. By the time you actually get the warm weather or go on holiday they're all gone so I took this opportunity to get a couple of basics. This vest will be ideal for work as I'm told it's like a furnace in the office during the summer months. And these shoes will go with everything. They remind me of a pair I saw in Accessorize last year, only these are about a quarter of the price. Sold.

Outfit post: It's beginning to look a lot like...

DSC02920
Manchester! So it turns out that I was so busy at the Christmas Markets eating and catching up with friends that I only took two photos that day. They were of a Christmas tree made out of Pringles tubes... so take a look at what I wore instead.

Jumper: New Look
Necklace: New Look
Skirt & belt: Primark
Boots: River Island

As much as I'm not a fan of the cold, I must admit that I prefer dressing for the chillier weather. Mainly down to my jumper addiction these past couple of years. I can't get enough of them! I'm also still wearing my River Island boots to death. Literally. These things need to be reheeled otherwise one of these days I'm going to slip over on my ass. They're pretty slippy on the sole.

DSC02925

This skirt and belt from Primark was a bargainous £6! I'm getting back into wearing shorter skirts again now that I feel a bit more confident in my weight. Doesn't mean I'm giving up my midi's though.

I'm hoping to do a few more outfit posts now that I have more space and have finally figured out the timer on my camera. Woo hoo!

Oh and for those of you wondering what a christmas tree made of Pringles tubes looks like...

It's the little things

DSC01947

When life isn't always going the way you want it to go, I find looking at the little things makes me feel a lot better. Whether it's a cup of tea or a youtube video of a cat doing something silly. Preferably both at the same time.

This week, I finally got new sheets. This may seem like something completely insignificant to you, but to me it's pretty damn awesome. I haven't had new bed sheets since uni and Topher's and my combined collection is pretty pathetic. Our pillow cases are completely mis-matched - and not in an ironic hipster way either - and our sheets have seen better days. So it was time!

On a budget, I headed to Primark and found something that would suit both of us. Maps!

I love it!

Also, we have been looking for a decent chest of drawers that wouldn't break the bank and we finally found one. It was at a car boot, brand new pine chest of drawers for the sum of ten english pounds. I couldn't say no, though Topher was a bit reluctant when it started raining! Still, it was worth it.

Outfit Post: Staying cool

It has been a scorcher of a week hasn't it? Even with the rain and thunderstorms. It's been a bit of a challenge dressing for both the weather and the office. Especially my office which has no windows of AC. It got up to 29 degrees last Friday. Anyway, the short shorts and tiny t-shirt you wear around the house at the weekend won't cut it for that commute and that workplace environment. So here's my formula for staying cool on the tube.

DSC01956
Vest: Charlotte Russe, Skirt & Sandals: Primark, Necklace: Reborn @ New Look

A skirt of a decent length (how very grandma of me!) because who wants to be flashing their knickers at everyone on the escalators as you go up?

A top with no sleeves - very important. One that doesn't show too much cleavage but still not overheating yourself. The central line is particularly bad in the evening rush hour.

Sandals - I don't know about you but my feet get overheated very easily. So sandals are essential if you're lucky to work in an office that will let you. Just watch out for those ladies in stilettos (ouch!).

A hair tie of some kind - if you have long hair like me, it's a god-send when your hair is sticking to your back in a sweaty office.

And finally, minimal jewellery. I kind of break the rule with this outfit by having a necklace which I wouldn't normally recommend. If you want jewellery then I say go for earrings. They're not as plastered to your skin as necklaces are.

365 Project: May edition

I still managed to get through my 365 project during May but of course couldn't post it due to my BEDM challenge. So here we are, a months worth of photos. Boom.

MAY-1
MAY-2
Being lazy, texting about toothpaste #wesocool, chocolates!, Primark binge, Cinco de mayo nails, another leaving party, all the stapling in the world to do, veggie couscous, being lazy, trying to defrost a chicken using sunlight, hampstead heath, sandwich, vintage postcard, peanut butter dessert, outfit post, Jay-z memes a go go, goodbye London flat, plumbing is not my forte - tape is, Primark goodies,  Hogwarts?, working hard, Topher's new love, more work, attempting to cook, Peterborough walking, pretty sky, apparently you can make your screen turn upside down on a PC, even more work, commuting times, never let Topher borrow my phone, fritatta.

How was your May?

#BEDM DAY 13: Fashion, Beauty and Grooming

Opening my wardrobe, I've been feeling uninspired lately. I've been wearing the same old thing, day in day out for the last year or two and ever since I've been on Slimming World my options have been shrinking. Therefore this Primark spree had to happen.

IMG_4549
It's just a few pretty things to see me through the summer as I've promised myself not to buy too many clothes until I reach my target. There isn't much point in buying things that aren't going to fit months down the line, is there?

So while I wait, I've been dreaming of a capsule wardrobe that will never make me feel like I have nothing to wear. The ultimate clothing dream if you will. It's quite a grown up thing in my head - in the past I've just bought things, never wondering what I'll wear it with or even if it suits me. I'd like to think that I've got the latter sorted but the former is still a problem that leaves me with things sitting in my wardrobe, just waiting for something to go with it.

Therefore, I've compiled a list (so far) of what is in my dream wardrobe.

Trousers/Shorts
Black jeggings
Coloured jeggings
Light jeans
Dark jeans
Denim shorts light
Denim shorts dark
Smart trousers

Skirts/Dresses
Midi skirt
Maxi skirt
Mini dress casual
Midi dress casual
Maxi dress casual
Evening dress (for a night out)
Fancy evening dress

Tops
T-shirts
Blouse short sleeved
Blouse long sleeved
Jumper dark
Jumper light
Cardigan dark
Cardigan light

Jackets
Winter coat
Autumn/spring coat
Light summer jacket
Leather jacket

It's just a jumping off point, I'm not going to have only one of each (apart from maybe the trousers & shorts). I would just like at least one of everything so that I'm covered for all occasions. I still want the fun of picking out my clothes in the morning, just less of a headache.

Do you believe in capsule wardrobes? What would your ideal wardrobe contain?

Outfits of Jordan

Well I'm back on English soil and I'm happy to see that the sun is still shining. Now for the reminiscing. I'll ignore for now that it's back to work tomorrow.

I didn't take photos of all my outfits, only a few so here they are. Dodgy mirror shots a go-go:

What does one wear when partying with 22 year olds and didn't bring anything appropriate with them?

IMG_4080
Jacket & blouse: New Look, Jeans: Next, Bag: Accessorize, Shoes: my mums from Nine West via TK Maxx I think. Necklace: Forever 21

I'm in love with my Accessorize camera bag. Even though it has no inside zip pocket (quite essential on a night out in my opinion) I love it still. Soooo pretty!

IMG_4078

I handed these shoes back over to my mum the next day with a heavy heart. I need a pair of these kitten heels. They were incredibly comfortable!

IMG_4173
Dress & belt: River Island, Waistcoat: New Look

This is the first time I've worn my River Island dress I got in the January sales. Love it! I don't like feeling too exposed so I like the fact that you get both a mini and a maxi out of this dress.

IMG_4243
Blouse: Dorothy Perkins, Jeans: Next, Boots: Primark, Hoodie: My uni jumper.

This outfit was purely comfort over fashion. We were at Petra this day and there is A LOT of walking involved. In fact, that's Petra behind me - Cheers mum for the amazing photo of just me and not a wonder of the world behind me, ha ha.

IMG_4263
Dress: Vintage, Belt: Primark I think? Shoes: Primark

This was my final day outfit for the holiday. I scooped this dress up at the Vintage Kilo Sale a few months back and this was the first opportunity I had to wear it. Removing the shoulder pads and adding a belt made it easy wearing for the long trip back up to Amman. I will be wearing this dress all summer!

Mini weekend haul

This weekend I had a mission. Get shoes to match dress for my cousin's wedding. This was a difficult task. Typical me, I had to pick a dress which had a colour scheme that is insanely difficult to find in the shops this time of year.

IMG_3169

I decided to wear the dress on the left. As much as I love the one on the right, it's not right for this wedding. The other is better for a Muslim wedding.

So the best choice for footwear would have to be that dark silver/pewter/rhodium kind of colour. Very difficult post Christmas to find.

After giving up on the high street, I took the opportunity of living in Wembley and started browsing all the Indian sari shops.

IMG_3934

By some miracle I happened upon these shoes that were the exact colour, size and they were on sale! Score. They are very bling but they will fit in nicely. Crisis over. Now all I need is a bag...

The Primark at Wembley is a small one but I popped in during my shoe hunt and found a few treasures.

IMG_3930

Desert boots for my upcoming holiday. We are actually going to be staying in the desert for a night or two and I have no appropriate shoes so these fit the bill.

IMG_3931 2

I've been on the hunt for a parka recently as I don't have anything waterproof for my training walks. We all know how unpredictable the weather is here in the UK. I got hailed on yesterday while wearing this parka so job done. Plus look how cute the little umbrellas are! I will be getting an actual coat (and hiking boots!) for the trek so this will do me fine until then.

photo 4

And finally I can't say no to a nice necklace. It will be worn with tshirts & jeans and will also look great with my maxi-dresses.

So excited for my holiday! 4 full days left to go!

Have you found any lovelies in the shops recently?
