Welcome to Jordan

When my alarm woke me at 5am on Saturday I covered my head with my duvet. Why oh why did I stay out late last night? It was one of the girls at work's leaving party and I had promised myself I would leave at 10pm. Latest. You have a flight to catch in the morning Diane, you're being picked up at 6am and still need to wrestle your evening dresses into your overflowing suitcase. I blame the person who bought another bottle of champagne.

So was it worth it? Totally. I had a great time and still successfully caught my flight that morning.Win.

I have been coming to Jordan every summer to visit my family since before I can remember and apparently it's been over 20 years since we last came in the month of April. I couldn't believe my eyes as we drove out of the airport. So green!

That evening, loads of the family came round and we had mezze. Damn I missed this food!

The next day, we headed out and I spotted these beauties along our travels!

Mini weekend haul

This weekend I had a mission. Get shoes to match dress for my cousin's wedding. This was a difficult task. Typical me, I had to pick a dress which had a colour scheme that is insanely difficult to find in the shops this time of year.

I decided to wear the dress on the left. As much as I love the one on the right, it's not right for this wedding. The other is better for a Muslim wedding.

So the best choice for footwear would have to be that dark silver/pewter/rhodium kind of colour. Very difficult post Christmas to find.

After giving up on the high street, I took the opportunity of living in Wembley and started browsing all the Indian sari shops.

By some miracle I happened upon these shoes that were the exact colour, size and they were on sale! Score. They are very bling but they will fit in nicely. Crisis over. Now all I need is a bag...

The Primark at Wembley is a small one but I popped in during my shoe hunt and found a few treasures.

Desert boots for my upcoming holiday. We are actually going to be staying in the desert for a night or two and I have no appropriate shoes so these fit the bill.

I've been on the hunt for a parka recently as I don't have anything waterproof for my training walks. We all know how unpredictable the weather is here in the UK. I got hailed on yesterday while wearing this parka so job done. Plus look how cute the little umbrellas are! I will be getting an actual coat (and hiking boots!) for the trek so this will do me fine until then.

And finally I can't say no to a nice necklace. It will be worn with tshirts & jeans and will also look great with my maxi-dresses.

So excited for my holiday! 4 full days left to go!

Have you found any lovelies in the shops recently?

Top picks #5

toppicks

I've really got that spring fever now, or actually looking at these picks, summer fever! I'm not delusional, just about to go on holiday. Therefore these are sensible choices that I'll use for my 2 week holiday and for the 2 or 3 days of sunshine we'll get back here in the UK.

I've already purchased this Debenhams swimsuit for my holiday. I just fell in love with the cute little skirt and it's no secret that I'm a fan of polka dots. Plus I fit in a 12! Perfect. I'm also in need of some sandals...so it looks like I got a little bit distracted. But both pairs of these shoes are so pretty. I'd wear the wedges with the Warehouse vest and light jeans.

I'm not so much in need for dresses but this Sugarhill boutique dress & Boden dress scream summer. Boden's is very classy and elegant while Sugarhill Boutique's is very fun and needs a desert backdrop to it in my opinion.

For those who follow me on Twitter, you would have seen me tweet about the Models Own speckled range for easter. Now that they're on their website I'm definitely after a bottle or two. And I shouldn't really have put this necklace on here as it's sold out but hopefully it'll be restocked soon. Say it will Eclectic Eccentricity? I need it!

I’m a sucker for a novelty handbag. In fact make that any novelty accessory. Anything that will put a smile on your face. This domino handbag is quite subtle but kitsch and would go with everything! At least everything in my wardrobe.

Have you got spring/summer fever?
