My week 6

So apart from working, I had quite a lazy week. And a lovely weekend with the bf.

IMG_0587

These pantomime stamps were on a package I received this week. Made me giggle.

IMG_0593

Vintage Gossip Girl, season 2. This was pretty much how I spent my evenings.

IMG_0594

Received my first graze box after getting a free one with a code in Glamour magazine. Scarfed it all. Delicious. Decided to keep up the subscription for a bit as it would be nice to have stuff to nibble on for work.

IMG_0615

My nails this week. In typical Nomad fashion, I didn't mean for it to come out like this. It was supposed to be a few simple polka dots but ended up as a dotty dalmatian-esque affair. Meh, I like it. Some of the best things are accidents.

IMG_0632

My main post for the Manchester science museum is here but here's just an extra pic. Pretty pattern :)

IMG_0644

Why hello there it's me! An outtake of my guest blog post which is now on Sparkly Flamingo's blog here.

How was your week? Freezing? If not, then consider yourself lucky :)

A day out at the museum

Today me and the bf went to the Manchester Science Museum and then had a late pub lunch. Though it was absolutely freezing, I had been looking forward to this for a while. I love having weekends now.

IMG_0638

This was in the main foyer. You take your photo on the machines below and your picture appears up here.

IMG_0635

I was in my element in the textile hall. Was telling the bf all the little facts I remembered from uni. Some people really don't understand how sciencey textiles is. How cool are these shoes?

IMG_0639

Underground Manchester. Really felt like I was in Harry Potter (such a nerd) and makes me really want to go to the WB Studio Tour (I so am!). Learned about sewers and gas - so romantic. Go on, ask me anything, ha ha!

IMG_0640

We then went to the poshest pub I've ever been to, The Ox, which is right across the road from the museum. The bf spotted a sign that said 2 courses for a tenner, so we thought why not. This was my starter (very photo worthy), goats cheese and red peppers. Delicious!

IMG_0642

My main course was salmon and teriyaki noodles, also delicious and photo worthy.

IMG_0643

And introducing the poshest fish and chips I have ever seen (those wedges were awesome!).

I also took photos of my outfit today but those are in a guest post that I've done for Sparkly Flamingo. Not sure when it will go up, but I will let you know. I'm excited, I've never done a guest post before.

How was your saturday?

Outfit post: Whimsical touches

I love making a plain outfit interesting with accessories. Whimsical is definitely the word to describe my main accessory style.

IMG_0526

I love my birds belt (New Look)

IMG_0535

Any fun necklace is a winner. My unicorn necklace is from Accessorize which is like my jewellery sweet shop.

IMG_0536

And funky tights of course! These lovelies were from Primark.

Accessories make my work clothes feel like new and I ignore the stares ha ha. My parent's especially just shake their head when they look at me!

I love how you can find unusual necklaces and jewellery anywhere now. Here are 3 of my latest purchases from the temple that is Accessorize.

Food is my drug PART 3

The final chapter in me and the bf's Disney food and wine festival adventure. Check out PART 1 and PART 2. I'm proud to say that none of these pictures contained partially eaten food. We managed to remember every time this day to take a photo first. Though I may have sipped the Mai Tai a little first. No one's perfect.

Hawaii

Seven Tiki Mai Tai

Omg SO alcoholic it took me by surprise. Such a little cup!

Belgium

DSC06393
Steamed Mussels with Roasted Garlic Cream & Baguette

Delicious mussels though the bread was kinda stale.

New Zealand again

DSC06395
Seared Sea Scallop with Vegetable Slaw and Lemon Oil

Amazing. I love scallops anyway, so to have one so massive was awesome. Plenty to share.

Hops and Barley  - was in the USA pavilion

DSC06397
Lobster Roll

I am a huge fan of lobster (as well as other sea food) but it is rather expensive back home so I always have cheap lobster when I go to the USA. This isn't the best lobster I've ever had, but for $7ish I would't expect it to be. Was nice to have so much lobster in the roll, not like another I had at a restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. Yum.

Italy

DSC06400
Ravioli Di Formaggio All'Emiliana (Cheesy Bolognese Ravioli)

So yummy! And quite a generous portion. Impressed.

China

Green Tea Plum Wine Cooler

Now we were torn on this one. This is going to sound weird but when you first taste it, it tastes kinda salty. After taking a couple of sips, that goes away and it tastes really nice. The bf refused to drink anymore after a sip so I was happy to finish it off myself. An unusual taste but I liked it.

Australia

DSC06411
Grilled Lamp Chop with Roasted Potato Salad and Red Wine Reduction

I'm a big fan of all the above so this was lovely. Wish there was more.

Mexico again

DSC06412
Flan

Now this word does not give this Mexican dessert justice. So tasty! It is also called Creme Caramel I think - that's what we called it when we used to have it all the time when I was little. Reminded me of my childhood :)

Back to Belgium

DSC06413
Godiva Chocolate Iced Coffee and Freshly Baked Waffles with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream

I'm always up for waffle time so this was very nice. Now, on to the iced coffee. It was an alcoholic version so very tasty. The biggest disappointment was that the cup was so darn small! Make it bigger. *Goes to look for a recipe*

And that is the end of the food adventure.

Did you like this three part series? Should I do any more food posts? Won't be as lengthy as these as I won't be going to anything like this anytime soon but along the same lines.

My week 5

I don't care that it's way past noon and I'm still in my pyjamas. It's sunday and they have pandas on, so it's ok.

IMG_0557

Kinky boots. This picture on my shoe desk calendar made me smile.

IMG_0556

IMG_0577

A couple of yums from the week. Claire (my bfs house mate) made us some awesome mac and cheese with breadcrumbs, cut up sausages, mustard and lea and perrins among other things. It was amazing. And I got to take left overs to work the next day. Score! I also went to Yo Sushi with my mum and brother. My brother had not been before so that was funny. He's very sarcastic so his reactions to stuff made me laugh.

IMG_0561

Decided to be a bit weird and wear my butterfly necklace that I got from Primark a couple of years ago and have only worn once. Wore it with my sheer black shirt with leather detail, skinny jeans, black wedges and my grey half sleeve batwing cardie. Still not 100% sure if it worked but ah well. Fashion is for fun and I had fun wearing this outfit.

IMG_0562

Look how far I am now! This series of books (there are 12 at the moment - I am on 4) is taking a ridiculous amount of time for someone who usually reads so fast. Anyone who has read these will know why I'm taking so long. Am really enjoying it though.

IMG_0565

Housemates cats, Rose and Axl. Look how cute they are!

IMG_0579

Saw this guy in the window of House of Fraser in Meadowhall. He was actually cycling! Love it.

IMG_0582
IMG_0583

Me and the bf getting ready for our impromptu night out last night. Luckily I had bought this dress earlier at Meadowhall. Was £85 at monsoon but I got it for £25.50 in the sale! And how cool is the bfs t-shirt. We saw it online and had to get it. It's Darth Vader, Sauron and Voldemort having drinks at a bar. Awesome.

How was your week?

The vintage bag

I would like to introduce you to my vintage bag. I originally bought this for my vintage shop, not being love at first sight for me, but I thought my customers would like it.

IMG_0573
It was only when going on holiday to Portugal, I realised I didn't have a day bag to carry round with me. With nothing being the right size in my personal bag collection, I turned to my vintage collection. I hadn't even put this bag on my website so I didn't see any harm in using it for the holiday.

DSC01766
A snapshot of me and the bag and my mum. Oh yeah, that's me with a head. Helllloooooo.

I don't know when it was during that holiday but I fell in love with this bag! It is the perfect size for just a day bag but fits all my reading material in it (small monthly magazines AND my massive book) as well. I get bored quite easily when travelling so this is essential to me.

IMG_0574

I'm so sad but I love bags with different compartments. Makes me feel more organised ha ha.

So this bag is now mine. Sorry Toast Rack.

Oh yeah, and the icing on the cake? I got this for 50p at a car boot sale!

What to do with £30?

So I got £30 from my grandma for Christmas. Whenever I get money as a present, I never spend it on specific things. I just use it as my own money. For once, I would like to use some gift money on something specific for myself that I can say, I got that from my grandma.

So what to do with £30? A few ideas I came up with:

A Topshop bag, £30

Screen Shot 2012-01-18 at 19.51.45

DVD's I've been after for awhile from Amazon, add up to £30 including shipping.

A bangle that I featured on my Random Quirks blog here and some more nail varnish (I may be addicted!)

              bangle

Or I could nerd out and get these. A hogwarts letter necklace and a hufflepuff prefect badge from etsy.

nerd

I am a Hufflepuff (and proud) and was annoyed that they only sold Gryffindor and Slytherin Prefect badges at the WWOHP. I was a prefect at school so I really wanted one of these.

I'm not sure what to pick. It's either one of these options, or I just see what I like the look of when I go shopping with my mum on saturday. What do you think?

My week 4

So this was an interesting week, more so towards the end. Check it out.

IMG_0516

Axl gets tired surfing the web all day.

IMG_0537

A 1930s pump on my 365 days of shoes desk calendar. Love this (thank you to my lovely bf for getting it for me).

IMG_0538

Axl being Axl. He's weird. Nuff said.

IMG_0541

Went to the red hot world buffet on deansgate on friday night with the friend and bf. Was nomtastic. Just check out my desserts! Love the waffle on a stick.

IMG_0542

Yes, I am going out with what appears to be a child. The bf's selections. All the delicious things and he went mental about the bubblegum ice cream. Didn't believe me when I said there are loads of other places he could get it, lol.

IMG_0543

Finally saw the new Sherlock Holmes film. Made me lol. I recommend it.

IMG_0545
Saturday night spent making jewellery for my fair that was today. Like the charms?

IMG_0548

Part of my stall at the fair. Was a good day though extremely cold!

Back to work tomorrow :(
