#BEDM Day 14: Fashion

It's been awhile since I did an outfit post on this blog but I do miss them so check out what I'm wearing to work today and then dinner with Topher.

Vest: Gap (on sale!), Necklace & shoes: Primark, Jeans: Outlet store in Florida for $17!

I only got this Gap vest a week or two ago but haven't had a chance to wear it yet due to all the rubbish weather but now that it looks nice again I'm going to risk it! I love the bright colours and the aztec print. A great addition to the colourful side of my wardrobe.

I tend to stay pretty casual in the office and I love how comfy the jeans are. They're at that awesome fits just right stage where they're not tight like new jeans usually are and not falling down either. I didn't have to wrestle when I bought them so they're being constantly worn at the moment.

When it hasn't been raining these shoes have been constantly on my feet. For Primark flats, I have to say that they are holding up pretty well against the heavy wearing. Though we'll see by the end of the summer!

Luna seems to be interested by my outfit choice...

What's your go to outfit when the sun is out?

Outfit Post: Spring is on the way with Jacamo

*Post in collaboration with Jacamo - all opinions are our own.

Jacket: Jacamo, Jeans: , Trainers: Converse

When shooting these photos I couldn't help but have the Flight of the Concords lyric in my head, "you could be a part time model". Topher doesn't really think of himself as photogenic and any time I get him in front of a camera, he tends to play the fool. But I think I got lucky today as I got some decent shots out of him where he isn't pouting or gurning (not including this one!)

Those who have heard of Jacamo know it as a reliable menswear brand that caters to the plus size market. Personally, though Topher and I had both heard of Jacamo we had no idea that they also stock regular mens sizes as well. This is great as I think there should be more menswear retailers available on the high street.

For someone who prefers more muted colours, this jacket fits in great with Topher's wardrobe. One of his specifications with coats is that they need to have a hood. Otherwise they anger him (but most things do). It's lightweight fabric makes it ideal for spring and for that awkward in between weather phase between seasons.

What Topher thinks: "It was light, comfortable and isn't too loud which appeals to me as I'm not a massive fan of colour. My mates usually mock me when I wear something new but this time not a word. I liked the fact that the bottom of the coat could be adjusted to be tighter so it could keep the wind out and the hood was big enough to cover my big hair. "

Be sure to take a look at Jacamo's website, their coat section has a great selection that will keep your man both toasty and stylish for the cooler months.

Have you ever shopped at Jacamo?

Disney's Boardwalk

DSC03210

Though I've been coming to Disney for years, I have never been to Disney's Boardwalk. It's a resort area right next to Epcot and has some awesome architecture in the New England, turn of the century style. The promenade is home to shops and restaurants and also a dance hall and piano bar.

Since Topher wanted to watch a NFL game, I decided to take him to the ESPN bar on the Boardwalk which gave me a great excuse to walk around afterwards.

I loved the pastel colours and the kitsch signage, as well as the Christmas tree which was still up.

If you're staying at the Boardwalk Inn, it's ideal as it's such a short walk to Epcot. You can walk right up to the gates and you come out between France and the United Kingdom.

It's a nice walk which I definitely recommend if you're in the area.

There and back again: catchup & outfit post

IMG_0877
3am in Florida

Sitting on the terrace, sipping a cold drink and tapping away on my laptop, I find myself far away from home again. As per tradition I spent Christmas Day at home with my family which was lovely and quiet. This was then followed by over 26 hours spent awake travelling to Florida the day after.

Group selfie at the start of the journey...we had no idea what was to come! Safe to say, no one was up for an "after" selfie!

It was pretty hellish as far as journey's go - with Topher and my dad's boarding passes suddenly not working at the gate in London, then the car rental place in Florida overselling their cars so people who had pre-paid were left with nothing (do NOT use Thrifty car rental!) to finally topping off the long day with our hotel having oversold their rooms (don't use hotels involved with timeshare!). We finally got to bed at 5am local time (10am UK time).

But that my friends is all behind me now. I can smile safely in the knowledge that I am finally on holiday and the fun can begin! Since Topher and I have come with my family, we're doing a split holiday between relaxing and going to a couple of parks. I am so excited! The new extension of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a must and I am itching to catch a few (hundred) photos of the Christmas decorations in Magic Kingdom. Not to mention the outlet malls I'll be taking advantage of.

Anyway, I only got a couple of snaps of what I wore on Christmas Day but you get the gist. Black dress, maroon tights, statement necklace = sorted. I may have forgotten to bring shoes that weren't converse or sandals...

Dress & tights: Primark, Necklace: Reborn

I'm not used to wearing drop waisted dresses as my waist is usually something I like to highlight. But I couldn't resist with this one and it's embroidery detail. Plus it's super comfy!

The Inevitable Christmas Party: Outfit post

DSC03066
Dress: House of Fraser, Necklace: Reborn

Whether you work in a 9-5, a shop, a warehouse or whatever, there will be the inevitable Christmas party. I will never be one of those people too cool to attend. I just love people watching too much.

For my first party with my new company back in Manchester, it was much more of a lavish do then what I'm used to. There's only so many times a girl can wear a dress that's only fit for black tie. What happened to all the balls in the world?

DSC03068

So tonight we set our scene at the Lowry in Salford Quays. For those out of towners, that’s the posh bit of Salford where the new Media city and BBC reside. And the Lowry is a theatre that also has rooms you can stick a couple hundred people in to party. The below view is from the Holiday Inn where we were staying. Wow!

After sitting at my company’s table, getting settled and staring around in wonder at all the pretty lights, my thoughts turned to food. I love a good three course meal! I had some kind of vegetable soup to start.

DSC03091

Salmon, mashed potato and vegetables for the main course.

DSC03109

And chocolate mousse with raspberries for dessert. Delicious!

DSC03123

Of course with it being a party, it wasn’t long until people were on the dance floor. You’ve got to dance when there’s pure cheese coming out of the speakers. As the night goes on, you get the usual antics. There’s the guy who thinks he can dance to Single Ladies.

DSC03146

And this guy.

DSC03175

Three guesses to what song is on...

Then after crackers have been pulled, shoes have been broken and drinks have been drank, there’s the inevitable walk back to the hotel.

Did you have any good Christmas parties?
