Outfit post: Grey days

Ok, so not a proper outfit post but I chickened out when the wind blew all our bins over. That and the moment I stepped outside to go to the post office and my meeting my hair blew everywhere.

Necklace: Random Quirks
Top - Zara
Shrug - Next
Belt - H&M
Skirt - ASOS
Black Tights (out of shot) - Primark
Black wedge lace ups (out of shot) - New Look

Chopped my head out this pic as I took these when I got home. It was raining and I looked like a drowned rat!

I painted my nails last night. Green room - Topshop. I love this shade and it contrasts rather nicely with my hair now!

What do you think of the double ring I made? It's all lego pieces. Who knew lego could be so girly!

Another pretty. I made matching earrings too. It was a fun day yesterday.

I went to my business start up meeting at my old university today which went quite well. I really want to make this work! And even better, the sales have started rolling in for the holiday season. I'm having sales on both shops for Black Friday (mahoosive sale for USA and online shops as it's Thanksgiving). So if you want 10% off just use the code BLACK10 on either Toast Rack or Random Quirks from midnight.

On a final note, it's just over a month until Christmas! I haven't started my shopping yet. Have you?

Meet Mabel. That hat has actually sold now but the hat underneath is still up for grabs.

I had an amazing day which I really needed. I said yesterday that I would say what happened to me on Friday, so here it goes. I lost my job. And I can't find it. (I can never be serious - even in this situation) I was told on Friday that my contract was terminated at my office job just like that. My last day is tomorrow. Bit of a whirlwind.

So, instead of breaking down and worrying myself silly - I'm going to be strong and go after what I really want to do in life. I'm 24 years old and I think I need to do something that makes me happy. And that is all of the above photos. I love making jewellery, selling vintage, blogging, painting, drawing, photographing things, fashion etc. So what do I want to do? All of the above. I'm going to search for secure jobs, but while I'm doing that I'm going to try and earn some money doing what I love.

Can't hurt to try can it?

Loot from the boot

Yesterday was a very successful day at the car boot. Claire and I came aways with bags and bags! Lots of new bits and pieces (no prices as I am selling these through my vintage shop Toast Rack):

Very cute shorts and vest set. So nineties!

This little guy I'm keeping as not only is it cute, but it's a pencil sharpener! There was also a globe (for Claire) and a tank (for the bf). All for £2!

Another pair of cat eye sunglasses as the last pair I had sold straight away and this box which has the plushest velvet on the outside. I think I'm just going to use the box for display as I got it for an amazing 10p! Claire got lucky with the same seller and scooped up the board game Game of Life for 10p as well. Definitely the bargains of the day.

There's also a few more other things but I didn't get round to taking pics of it all now that I remember. Ah well, I'm sure you'll catch a glimpse at my next fair post.

Have you found any bargains recently?

Vintage Village: September birthday bash!

This month's vintage village was the fair's 2nd birthday! It was a great day and I was so busy on my stall and buying other sellers things that I only took a few photos:

I'm going to need a separate post entirely for the things I bought. I blame my housemate and helper Claire, ha ha. Coming soon!

My week: 27

One day I will do one of these posts on the Sunday. It was the Olympics closing ceremony though. Despite what some people said on twitter, I really enjoyed it - even if it was a bit trippy (I'm looking at you Fatboy Slim, yes you and your giant inflatable octopus).

my week 27

*Outfit post earlier this week
*Yummy brothers toffee apple cider
*I made chilli con carne!
*My awesome alarm clock teapot
*New earrings for Toast Rack
* I heart my Spock mug
*Editing photos for Random Quirks
*My stall at Vintage Village
*My cute froggie trinket box - still hasn't sold the poor thing
*Vintage Village
*Red velvet cupcake
*Parma Violet cupcake

It was a week full of food and preparing for Vintage Village in Stockport. I desperately needed to make more stock for Random Quirks so I knocked out a fair few new pieces during the week after work.

Vintage Village itself was a lovely day. I sold a few things, me and Claire got some nommy cupcakes and I may have bought a few things... but that will be left for another post I think!

A vintage adventure

WARNING: PHOTOS A-PLENTY

Next month, it will be 5 years since my Arab grandmother passed away. When I arrived in Amman this week I found that the family were finally going through her clothes to give away. When my dad said take whatever you want, I couldn't believe how much stuff I found.

Both my mum and my English grandma threw all their old clothes away so I was really happy to have something vintage that is actually from a family member. It means so much more. Since I am the oldest grand-daughter and the only one interested in vintage, I pretty much had my pick. After showing some stuff to my cousin who's my age, I'm happy to say she got on the band wagon as well.  Anything we didn't pick would be going to charity, so not only did I pick out stuff for myself but my vintage shop got a healthy amount as well.

A bit of background of owner:

Grandparents on their wedding day (my grandfather passed away 11 years ago - he kind of reminds me of Walt Disney in this photo). They got married in the forties.

These two photos above I had never seen before of my grandparents - so cute!

Now on to the clothes:

This isn't even all of her clothes. I think I'm beginning to see where I got the clothes hoarding gene from....

DSC05807

I love the colour of this dress so I'm keeping it for myself. The triangle detailing is also pretty nifty. Will have to loose the shoulder pads though!

DSC05813

This dress is a tad (putting it lightly) big on me so it is currently at the tailors being taken in (which by the way is ridiculously cheap here - I'm talking the same price as a couple of Starbucks at the most!) I can't wait to try it on.

DSC05821

I am in LOVE with this sequin cape. I was going to donate it to Toast Rack but my dad said it's a classic and you never know when you might need it. Yes my dad encouraged me to keep it - I have an awesome dad.

These two tops were picked up by my cousin. How gorgeous is the detail on both tops? I insisted on photographing them before she took them. Sequins and pearls. I would put a couple more photos of them up but I think this post is already picture heavy enough.

Packing to leave tomorrow, I managed to fill both mine and my dads suitcases (see? Best dad ever!) with all my new goodies. I mainly got a few blazers for myself and the shop got shoes, handbags, shirts, suits, a fur stole and a couple of dresses. I can't wait to go to my next vintage fair to see what awesome new homes they go to. And I'm finding myself hoping that the weather is still bad so I can wear my new dresses. They are long sleeved after all. I really want to find some more old photos of my grandmother so I can find one of her wearing the clothes I picked.

Have you ever gotten anything vintage from relatives?
