The Crochet Crop Top

DSC03636

Last Saturday I led my visiting cousin into the city of Manchester and we hit the shops. I seem to be in a bit of a rut at the moment finding clothes to replace the ones I sold but at least I managed to walk away from the day with this.

The vivid shade of post box red caught my eye when I was wandering through Topshop. Immediately I fell in love and went to try it on. I was surprised to find it was slightly cropped so it didn't look that great with the jeans I was wearing, but I was planning on wearing it with my new Zara trousers which are high waisted anyway. So no bother. To the till!

Now if only the sun would return from wherever it disappeared to so I can wear this, that would be great!

Wardrobe updates

IMG_1978

I have to admit I didn't find as much as I wanted during my trip to the Trafford Centre. I found more macarons than new items for my new wardrobe. My journey to acquiring a colourful wardrobe was thwarted by the sea of monochrome in all my usual favourite shops, not to mention the pastels which don't suit me. Oh well, the search continues. I'm happy with what I did buy.

Firstly, yes I did break my rule of colour only but you can't argue with the facts. Wide leg? Check. Polka dots? Check. Loose fabric? Check? Pockets? Check. These wide leg beauties from Zara are officially my favourite pair of trousers ever! They are ridiculously comfortable and I've already worn them once to work (aka The Tropics). Even though Luna enjoys attacking my legs when I wear them, I really don't care. They just feel amazing and I love that they show off my waist.

The next isn't really for the summer but I'm happy to save it for the cooler months. Teal is a colour I love and it's a knee length so perfect for me. It was only a tenner in the sale at Forever 21 so I couldn't say no. The geo texture is also a fun touch so it isn't too plain.

And lastly, after seeing these F21 sandals online for only £7 and in an array of colours I had to check them out in store to see if they were as good in person. The only colour they had in my size (not even really my size, I'm usually a size 7 but they were tiny so I advise you size up) was brown. But I got them because the pleather was really soft and they fit so I figure I'll get the other colours I like online at a later date. Summer footwear sorted!

I think I'll head to the Northern Quarter for my next shopping trip. Maybe I'll find more colour there. Where are your favourite shops for bright colours?

Depop - The purge begins!

Screen Shot 2015-02-19 at 19.36.10

So I finally stopped beating around the bush and as of yesterday I officially started purging my clothes. I originally thought of eBay but I think I'll save that for the vintage stock I have left over from my Afflecks days. For the wardrobe purge of 2015, I am giving Depop a go after seeing it on other blogs over the last year.

Depop is an app where it is super easy to sell your clothes. Just take a photo, put in a description & all the info, link to your paypal account and publish. Anyone can take a look and buy if they're interested. Best of all, it's free. I like the idea of being able to put fixed price on your items but the one downside is that there's no time limit. This stuff could be sitting there for months if no one wants it. But I guess it's all about putting up quality items and using social media to your advantage.

One of my 2015 goals is to organise and one of my 30 before 30 goals is to create a capsule wardrobe so this is helping me get there. As well as losing over 2 stone in the 18 months, I'm just tired of looking at the same things on my rail (I haven't had a wardrobe since first year of uni). I feel like my clothes haven't changed much in the last 3/4 years - I however, have. So a couple of nights ago I bit the bullet and stood in front of my clothes. Everything that I both loved and still fit got a piece of pink washi tape around the hanger. Everything else goes. And that's a lot of stuff.

I'm starting slow where I'm going to put up a few pieces a day - fingers crossed it sells. Any money I make is going into my new wardrobe fund. I'm not left with much at all so there's plenty of work to do in the shopping department. Check out my page.

Are you on Depop? Link me to your page. If not, have you heard of it?
