My week returns #1

IMG_1943
My macaron addiction has returned!

Part of my moving my blog over to Wordpress has involved the painstaking process of changing all my photos to Flickr links. This has allowed me to see how my posting style has changed over the three years I've been blogging. I completely forgot that I used to do regular update posts. The reason why I stopped was down to my 365 project last year which took over.

Now that that project is finished, I'm going to start doing my bi-weekly roundup posts again as I miss them and realise looking back at this year so far that I don't know exactly what I've been up to each week. So I'm bringing it back. Deal with it! :)

So the biggest things over the last couple of weeks included participating in the Bloggers Market MCR. I made a decent profit - enough to go and buy a few new pieces for my wardrobe - and hope there will be another in the future. I've still got an overflowing wardrobe of clothes that don't fit!

I really didn't need to go to the trouble but I wanted to make my own collage tags to put prices on my clothes for the market. I had a blast making them. What do you think?

One of my inbox regulars is the email from Groupon advertising deals on anything from spa days to cat tree's which we couldn't help ourselves but purchase this week. I was in the market for a new scratching post as the kittens are way too big for theirs now and saw the deal on this cat tree. Yes, that did escalate quickly!

But considering a scratching post is around £15-£20 for a basic one and a cat tree of this size costs around £70 from the high street, we couldn't refuse the price of £40 for this one below.

It's 5ft tall and the kittens love it. Especially now that the sun is out. Now the only thing is sharing the parts that the sun hits!

It's been awhile since we had a meal out, but we needed to celebrate Topher getting a job with more hours and much closer to home which will save him commuting for at least 2 hours a day. Woo hoo! So it was to Yo Sushi, followed by macarons (of course!).

This was at the Trafford Centre where I got a couple of things with my market money which I will show very soon! For now, I can only show you the Zara bag that Pickles claimed! Not for sale.

So that was my fortnight. How was yours?

A weekend of food = Food Coma

It's not every weekend when I get three meals out, but this last one had my calendar full.

First stop was Cabana: Brasilian Barbecue on the Friday with my parents. We needed food after shopping for a dress for me to wear at my cousin's wedding (mission accomplished btw).

I loved the decor

My mum opted for the garlic chicken which by far looked the best out of our three meals.

IMG_3037
My dad had the burger

IMG_3038
And I had the steak and sweet potato fries.

Overall we were left a bit underwhelmed by the food. The sweet potato fries were more fry than sweet potato if that makes sense. I couldn't taste much sweet potato at all. I had also asked for a medium rare steak which as you can see in the photo was pretty much cremated.

If I wasn't to be weighed the next morning I think we would have gotten some of the street food as that looked pretty good. Hopefully it was just bad luck for us that evening - we went to the Westfield branch.

On Saturday morning, it was time for Slimming World and since it was the first meeting of the month that means tasting. Basically everyone brings in something that is free or low syn and everyone chows down. Delicious! I got to try lots of new things and learn new recipes which I have already started putting into practise. (And I lost 2lbs! Getting closer to 2st!)

IMG_3044

For lunch with the family and the bf we went to Las Iguanas. I have been a few times before and have always enjoyed the Latin food.

IMG_3046
I had the Xim Xim chicken which is chicken in a peanut, coconut and crayfish sauce. Yum!

IMG_3047
The bf had an enchilada.

IMG_3048
And my mum and cousin both had fajitas.

IMG_3049
Even though we were pretty full, the bf and I managed to force ourselves to share a cheesecake!

Then finally on the Sunday, the bf and I went to our old favourite Yo Sushi for lunch.

IMG_3063

Now if you go on a Sunday they have an offer called Sunday Munch where you can get 10 plates for £20 each. But everyone in your party has to do it. We didn't realise that, so had to get some extra plates to get it up to 20. It was either pay £44 for 14 plates or £40 for 20. Topher clapped his hands and said "Challenge excepted".

I have never had so much sushi in my life! Don't do this offer/challenge unless you have the stomach (literally) for it. Even the bf was struggling by the end.

IMG_3064
Serious food coma faces! I wanted to curl up and die.

One (or maybe two) of the 20 plates we had was chocolate mochi. Which is described as "Soft Japanese rice cake ball filled with dark chocolate ganache filling"

IMG_3060
Seriously you need to try these. They are amazing!

Then we made a wandering, waddling pilgrimage to Laduree in Harrods. Yes this is straight after the sushi, but it was part of my plan all day and they were to be saved for later! Because no matter how full we were, we'll always be hungry later!

Raspberry gold leaf macaroon

After seeing these on Carrie's Wish Wish Wish, I needed one. Luckily they had one left when we got there! Definitely the first time I've eaten gold.

IMG_3069
Yum!

And now that the weekend is over, I'm back onto the slimming world plan for the week ahead!

When's the last time you were in a food coma?

My fortnight: 23 & 24

Since I was feeling a tad under the weather last week, I decided to make this post a fortnight in photos.

Screen Shot 2012-10-01 at 19.54.06
*Macaroons! I have a new addiction.
*I love the wedge on this shoe - it's literally lots of little toys.
*Pink Polar Bear and Le Fizz cocktails at Kro Bar for a friend's birthday. Take my advice and stay away from Le Fizz. Tiny for the price and all you can taste is lime!
* Decorative fair
*New boots, new dress - a good day
*Olympics mascots chocolate - yummy :)
*My first football match!

Looking back over these photos, the first ones feel like ages ago! I had to get some macaroons when me and the bf went to Yo Sushi in Selfridges. Just a little treat to celebrate both us being paid. Another highlight was the decorative fair in Fallowfield on the 23rd. I had a great time and made a handsome profit (yes I did just say handsome profit).

And finally, I managed to fully tick one of my 25 things to do before I'm 25. Go to a football match.I went to see Stalybridge vs Chester on Saturday with the bf and his step-dad, step brother and grandad. I had a great time. Even if you're not into football, you've got to admit it is quite fun hurling abuse at men running around in shorts!

We all also went for a Sunday roast at a country pub which was quite tasty. Though I have to say it wasn't as good as me and the bf's roast we did a couple of weeks ago :)

After a stressful couple of weeks of work I'm happy to say that I received my visa today to go to India. My parents pick me up on Friday. I can't wait! The adventure begins.

How was your week?

My week 17

More rain yes, but on the bright side - it's almost May! I spent my weekend enjoying driving my car around, eating and failing at thrifting.

Image-1 Image copy-1

*A morning of madness where it was actually sunny and warm outside. Took this on my way to the post office to post my first order ever to Japan!
*Vintage Bally boot on my shoe calendar
*Ate at Giraffe for the first time on Saturday at the Trafford Centre with the bf. We were loving our starter of baba ganoush (nom!), hummus and pitta.
*My beloved iPad next to my beloved Alexa. I'm feeling rather spoiled this year. It's great to be able to properly catch up with my blog reading on my lunch break.
*Macaroons! Another first this week. I had never actually tried them before so I thought why not and got them from The English Rose bakery in Selfridges. One word: Delicious!
*My quesadillas at Giraffe
*Went for a sunday lunch at Wetherspoons.
*The bf's burger at Giraffe.

I had quite a busy weekend. Went to Ashton on Saturday to look in the charity shops (found nothing but did buy some buttons I'm going to make into earrings) and met up with the bf and his family. The trip to the Trafford centre was spur of the moment on the way home when we were both hungry. I'm glad we stopped.

Sunday, even though it was raining - I dragged the bf to a car boot (indoor) and it was a bit of a bust but I did find a couple of things. We then had sunday lunch with front row window seats to a car getting a ticket for being parked on the double yellows.

Gonna relax with a hot drink now and catch up on my internet rounds (yes this is what I call answering emails, blogging, reading, listing stock etc).

How was your week? Wet?
